Training opportunities for young migrants from different regional origins
Current situation 2014 and development since 2010 – Results of the BA/BIBB applicants survey
Abstract
It has been known for some time that young people from families with a migrant background face particular difficulties when searching for an apprenticeship position. However, these young migrants form a very disparate group. They differ, for example, in terms of the regional origin of their families, nationality, native language, country of birth and the duration of their stay in Germany. This article therefore not only seeks to examine the extent to which the opportunities differ between young people with and without a migration background for moving into dual vocational education and training, but it also looks at the degree of variation between the different migrant groups. First, the training opportunities for the year 2014 are illustrated. In a second step the trends since 2010 are analyzed. The full article is available for download in German only.
