"Quality development in further training"
In the past, "quality of further training" was a relevant topic due to various reasons (criticism in the public media, financing problems, promotion of consumer protection, a. o.). Expert discussion of this topic mainly focussed on theory-oriented contributions (approaches, models, standards). In the meantime, "quality" has become a permanent issue. The question, however, as to how quality assurance in further training is achieved in practice is still unanswered:
- What major considerations, approaches and objectives have been prevalent in quality assurance during the last 30 years?
- When and how have providers of further training themselves become active in this field?
- How are tests for different areas of education and training (further training, higher education, a. o.) conducted?
- How is quality of further training assured in Europe and in non-European countries?
All these questions are covered in "Quality development in further training", a project by the Federal Institute for Vocational Training which is promoted by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung, BMBF). First results of this project are presented in this discussion paper.
