Four years' vocational training - All on one CD-ROM!
How did Germany's political parties envision the future of vocational training as they entered the 2002 Bundestag election campaign? What is Germany's training crisis costing the state? How flexible is Germany's "dual" vocational training system? Who finances lifelong learning? Vocational training in Europe: Who is learning from whom and how do they learn? Which skilled trades have been created since 2000 - and which have been updated? These and many other questions and issues have been focal topics for the Federal Institute for Vocational Training's BWP - Berufsbildung in Wissenschaft und Praxis magazine in recent years. And they are still topical. Many people however find they do not always have fundamental information on these issues at their fingertips when they need it for their work. This problem has now been solved: The Federal Institute for Vocational Training ("BIBB") has now put its Berufsbildung in Wissenschaft und Praxis (BWP) magazine - 24 issues covering the years 2000 through 2003 - on CD-ROM.
BIBB's "BWP - Berufsbildung in Wissenschaft und Praxis - Jahrgänge 2000-2003" CD-ROM offers users a means of finding information quickly and easily on a wide array of subjects, including:
- BIBB research findings on key issues in the training sector,
- New BIBB publications and newly developed instruction media for use in the vocational training field,
- Developments - at both policy and practice level - in the vocational training field,
- The new initial and continuing vocational training regulations issued in the last four years,
- New training methods and continuing training concepts,
- International aspects of vocational training,
- The results of pilot projects,
- Training for instruction personnel.
All issues and reports are in PDF format and can be copied and printed out for the user's work when copyright restrictions are observed.
A reliable and easy-to-use search function allows users to quickly find articles by author or keyword or with a full-text search. Searches are based on keywords and abstracts used in BIBB's Vocational Training Literature Database ("LDBB").
Searches encompass:
- The BWP archive which contains all articles published in BWP during the years 2000 through 2003 plus all supplements (including BWPplus, and recommendations and decisions issued by the BIBB Steering Committee) and special issues,
- BWP-English which offers an overview of BWP articles that have been translated into English and of English-language abstracts of German articles (since 2002).
- In addition, BWP-Online offers direct access to the BIBB and BWP Internet platform for the latest information on initial and continuing vocational training.
The "BWP-Jahrgänge 2000-2003" CD-ROM will be updated annually. The update will entail incorporating the latest year's issues into the existing CD-ROM. Subscriptions to the BWP magazine include the CD-ROM which is mailed with Volume 1 every year. New subscribers additionally receive the last CD-ROM as a thank-you.
A one-year subscription to BWP - six issues, one every two months - costs €39.70 (€44.40 to addresses in foreign countries) plus postage and handling. To subscribe, please contact: W.
