Plant mechanic for sanitation, heating and air conditioning systems
- BIBB releases CD-ROM for teaching and learning under the new vocational training regulations -
The new training programme for the occupation "plant mechanic for sanitation, heating and air conditioning systems" went into effect on August 1, 2003. But what is new about the updated training programme for this occupation? What consequences do these modernized training requirements have for day-to-day training in enterprises, vocational schools and inter-company vocational training facilities? What has changed for instructors, teachers and trainees? A new CD-ROM developed by Germany's Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training ("BIBB") provides answers to all questions about the new training requirements. This CD-ROM offers a comprehensive overview of the new training requirements, presents the occupation of plant mechanics for sanitary, heating and air conditioning and its associated occupational field, provides information on the subject matter covered by training and how training is structured, on the "learning segment" concept (in which instruction revolves around thematic units rather than individual subjects) used by vocational schools and on the new examination methods, and provides tips on implementing these changes in day-to-day training practice.
Updated vocational training offers instructors and training personnel more leeway for organizing training on a flexible basis, leeway that could allow training to respond to company needs as well as trainee skills. This leeway must be tapped! Which is why this CD-ROM aims at encouraging users - with the help of a practice-oriented, multimedia-based presentation - to actively examine the substance of the revised training requirements. The CD-ROM also points out ways of implementing the new requirements at company level, in vocational schools and at inter-company vocational training facilities.
