BIBB live - from 28 February - 4 March 2005 at the didacta education fair in Stuttgart!
Information on vocational education and training straight from the experts: Germany's Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training ("BIBB") will once again be on hand at the didacta trade fair for education and training being held in Stuttgart from 28 February - 4 March. Visitors to the BIBB stand (No. 121 in Hall 7.0) will receive information - in the form of lectures, presentations and one-on-one conversations - on current developments and outlooks in the initial and continuing vocational education and training (VET) field.
As part of the FORUM Ausbildung und Qualifikation ("Training Forum" at Stand 123 in Hall 7.0), BIBB experts will provide information on a wide variety of subjects including:
Latest developments in the VET field
Focus:
- Whether and why it is worth a firm's while to provide vocational training,
- Who pays for vocational education and training,
- The revised regulations for industrial metal-working and electrical occupations,
- BIBB's new media information system for use in day-to-day training.
International developments and the transfer of knowledge in VET
Focus:
- The internationalization of vocational education and training,
- The European Network of Reference and Expertise (ReferNet),
- New paths for training instruction personnel,
- Setting up an online course for fostering trainers' intercultural skills,
- The VET research knowledge map.
Special groups in the VET field
Focus:
- Continuing training for older employees,
- The transfer of knowledge and experience involving assistance for disadvantaged persons, as illustrated by the example of training modules created in accordance with Germany's Vocational Training Act,
- Ways and means for ascertaining and developing immigrants' specific skills,
- Compensating for the disadvantages of disabled exam participants.
Current developments in the continuing VET field
Focus:
- Education vouchers as a tool for improving publicly-funded continuing VET,
- Why - and how much - private persons invest in continuing occupational training,
- The iMOVE campaign to help German CVET providers on the international education market.
Vocational training for sustainable development - Networking and new media - Presentations in this area will include:
- Examples of good practice in the area of "Internet-based vocational training for sustainable development",
- The "Sustainable energy technologies in the skilled trades" learning field,
- The Fit for a Long Time Car project - A pilot project involving sustainable development,
- Learning architectures for sustainability in vocational education and training.
The BIBB stand (No. 121 in Hall 7.0, right next to the FORUM) will also provide visitors to didacta a comprehensive overview of all BIBB's areas of activity and the results and findings from its work. This information will include:
- The offerings of the BIBB Vocational Training Literature Database,
- The broad range of content offered by BIBB instruction materials (publications, videos, CD-ROMs, on-line and off-line products),
- The ELDOC (E-Learning Documentation) database with offerings for initial and continuing VET,
- Diverse e-learning programmes,
- Findings from the Institute's research that have been presented in BIBB publications,
- BIBB's on-going research in the field of national and international VET as reported on by BIBB journals,
- iMOVE at BIBB which helps German CVET providers get into shape for meeting the international competition,
- The BIBB-based National Agency Education for Europe with its EU action programmes and campaigns in the area of general and vocational training. Examples include:
- Leonardo da Vinci, an EU action programme in the VET field and
- Socrates, an EU action programme in the general education field.
The Institute's presentation programme will also include its Innovation in Continuing Education ("WIP") prize. Awarded every year, the WIP prize is aimed at publicizing and disseminating innovation in the continuing VET field. The award ceremony for this year's WIP prize will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, 28 February 2005, as part of the FORUM Ausbildung und Qualifkation. The ceremony is being held under the patronage of the minister-president of the State of Baden-Württemberg, Mr. Erwin Teufel.
