The BIBB at didacta 2005 - the education fair

Once again, the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) will be among those taking part in Europe's largest education fair, didacta, which is taking place in Stuttgart from 28 February to 4 March. A broad range of information involving current issues and problems in initial and continuing vocational education and training will be presented at the BIBB stand (no. 121) in Hall 7.0, addressing such topics as

All BIBB activities, the latest results and findings of the BIBB's work, and its on-going research in the area of national and international vocational education and training,

New publications, instructional materials, CD-ROMS and diverse e-learning programmes,

The Vocational Education and Training Literature Database.


This year the spotlight at the BIBB's stand will be on the institute's international activities. Two initiatives headquartered at the BIBB will be presented:

  • iMOVE (International Marketing of Vocational Education) at the BIBB.

    iMOVE is an initiative of the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) that is based at the BIBB. iMOVE helps German providers of initial and continuing vocational education and training to establish themselves on international markets and promotes "Training - Made in Germany."

    iMOVE offerings include conferences and workshops on networking
    • Seminars offering further training to providers of continuing vocational education and training
    • Market research and up-to-date information on foreign markets
    • International marketing - delegations, trade fair presentations, and conferences abroad

    • http://www.imove-germany.org/ - The multi-lingual iMOVE continuing vocational training database

 

  • The National Agency "Education for Europe" (NA)

    The NA, which is also headquartered at BIBB, is under the direction of the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) and is responsible for the implementation of the EU LEONARDO DA VINCI vocational education and training programme, for parts of the EU SOCRATES education programme, and for the European E-Learning programme in Germany. In addition, the NA carries out other Europe-specific assignments, such as coordinating the competition for the "Europäisches Sprachensiegel" - the European Award for Languages.

    NA services include
    • Providing information for the (specialised) public about European education programmes and initiatives
    • Advising potential applicants
    • Monitoring and assessment of EU-supported projects
    • Symposia, workshops and conferences on network building
    • Dissemination and transfer of project results

As well as presenting information at the BIBB stand, BIBB will be sharing its expertise in questions of national and international vocational education and training at didacta's Forum Ausbildung/Qualifikation [Training/Qualification Forum] (Hall 7.0, Stand 123, right next to the BIBB stand), where experts from the institute will be giving lectures, with discussion to follow, on the following topics:

  • Recent developments in continuing vocational education and training
  • Vocational education and training for sustainable development
  • Special target groups
  • International development and knowledge transfer
  • Recent developments in vocational education and training


For five years now, the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) has been hosting the competition for the Innovation in Continuing Education and Training Prize (Weiterbildungs-Innovationspreis, WIP). This year's award ceremony, held at the Forum Ausbildung/Qualifikation, will once again highlight particularly innovative projects and ideas relating to continuing vocational education and training. The patron of the awards ceremony this year will be the minister-president of the State of Baden-Würtemberg, Mr. Erwin Teufel. With Prof. Helmut Pütz, the president of the BIBB, he will present the four prizes that are to be awarded this year.
