New man at the helm - Manfred Kremer assuming office as president of the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training

The Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training ("BIBB") will have a new president as of 1 July 2005 when Manfred Kremer succeeds Helmut Pütz. Professor Pütz has held this office since early 1998 and is retiring on 30 June 2005.

A well-known and committed vocational training expert, Manfred Kremer has headed the Vocational Training directorate at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research since January 2002. Prior to this time he served many years as division head for Vocational Training Policy Issues. Mr Kremer is well acquainted with BIBB not only as a result of his work at the ministry where his more recent responsibilities included the Institute's legal and technical supervision. Mr Kremer's familiarity with the Institute also arises from direct involvement with it: He is also a Federal Government Commissioner and, as such, serves on the BIBB Board.

Mr Kremer began his career at the then Federal Ministry of Education and Science in 1979 after earning a degree in economics and social sciences from the University of Cologne and a subsequent stint as an assistant at the University of Bochum.
