Modernisation and quality assurance in vocational education and training

Vocational training systems must respond to societal and economic trends and developments. On the one hand, vocational training systems must prepare young people's integration into the employment system and enable their participation. The employment system on the other hand must be supplied with qualified skilled labour. If these tasks are to be fulfilled, vocational training structures, institutions and learning venues as well as instruction and learning processes must be subject to a continual development process that takes quality standards in account. In addition to its focus on the development of flexible occupational profiles, BIBB's research and development work also concentrates on the following topics:

  • The modernisation of vocational training structures
  • A focus on skills and competences in vocational training regulations and examinations
  • Quality assurance in regulatory work
  • The qualification and professionalisation of training personnel
  • Testing innovative instruction / learning concepts
  • The progressive development of vocational education and training within the framework of European initiatives and campaigns aimed at fostering lifelong learning
