www.bibb.de - Step-by-step more accessible!
User-friendlier, faster, more up-to-the-minute and - most importantly - accessible: The Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training ("BIBB") recently launched a new look for its "knowledge portal" www.bibb.de. Particularly for people with disabilities, the new accessible Web design makes it much easier to access information offered on BIBB's homepage. The new design also meets the requirements mandated by the Barrier-Free Information Technology Ordinance ("BITV") under Section 11 of the Act on Mainstreaming Persons with Disabilities (Behindertengleichstellungsgesetz).
Also new: BIBB's new homepage
- structures content with the help of "easier to manage" information blocks,
- introduces a systematic, accessible navigation structure,
- allows users to adjust the presentation of content to meet their individual needs. Visitors to the BIBB homepage now have the choice of an alternative contrast layout and an option for adjusting text print to a comfortable size,
- offers selected content in German sign language, and
- includes software that reads content from the BIBB homepage aloud.
www.bibb.de - the knowledge portal of the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training has one of the most extensive offerings of vocational training information in Germany. BIBB presents its services in the research, development and advisory fields at www.bibb.de using more than 100,000 Internet pages and documents. BIBB's Internet offerings post some two million hits a year.
The Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training attaches particular importance to improving the accessibility of its Internet offerings on a continual basis. Coming projects include implementing barrier-free requirements for text and introducing a quality assurance system that regularly monitors compliance with accessibility standards.
