Vocational education and training international: comparison, cooperation, marketing

In the light of the challenges of globalisation in the field of vocational education and training, increasing significance is being accorded to the cross-border exchange of experiences. The aim of this forum is both to make a contribution to this pooling of views and to provide an insight into the international work being conducted by BIBB. To this end, the forum will involve experts home and abroad and will feature two main strands each with differing main focuses.

The first of these main thematic areas will bet he European Qualifications Framework and the European Credit Transfer System, looking in detail at

  • the initiatives and responses produced along the way to a EQF and to ECVET.

The second strand will cover a wide range of topics and will be conducted across four working groups. Issues addressed will be:

  • issues relating to in-company continuing training in Europe, debated on the basis of the Continuing Vocational Training Survey (CVTS) (working group 8.2);
  • the presentation of strategies for the transition from VET into employment in the partner countries of Turkey, Vietnam and Japan (working group 8.3);
  • an international comparison of company VET training personnel (working group 8.4).
  • A final issue to be highlighted is whether Anglo-Saxon educational providers are operating more successfully on foreign markets than Germany (working group 8.5).

In the interests of facilitating the exchange of views within the working groups and of integrating foreign visitors to the congress, a full German-English interpreting service will be provided for the events taking place within Forum 8.
