5th BIBB Congress in Düsseldorf: Meeting place for all vocational education and training specialists
Whether they work in companies, specialist associations, trade unions, ministries, administrative bodies, schools, or training or research establishments, all experts who hold positions of responsibility in vocational education and training should jot down this important date in their calendars. From 12 to 14 September 2007 the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) will be holding its 5th BIBB Congress at the Congress Center Düsseldorf (CCD). The motto is "The Future of VET: Mobilizing potentials - Shaping changes". "This is the largest German-language VET policy congress," says BIBB president Manfred Kremer, "and provides a unique opportunity to address in detail the present and future national and international challenges of vocational education and training. I am confident that a signal will be sent by this Congress for the further development of vocational education and training in Germany."
Representatives of politics, employers' and employees' associations, and academic research and practice will have the opportunity to speak in eight forums and about 30 working groups. They will debate current and future developments in vocational education and training, determine precisely where reform is needed and work out practical possibilities of implementation. Join in the discussion and decision-making! About 2,000 VET experts from Germany and abroad are expected to attend.
Like the previous congresses in 1988, 1992, 1996 und 2002, the 5th BIBB Congress will provide all those involved in vocational education and training with another opportunity for an intensive exchange of views and experience regarding crucial themes and future issues in vocational education and training. The BIBB is working with its national and international partners to provide a platform for debate which stimulates innovations in vocational education and training and supports the practical implementation of such innovations.
- The topics of the eight forums: Forum 1: Strategies to secure initial and continuing training and occupational competence
- Forum 2: New structural concepts and innovative developments

- Forum 6: Sustainable development in vocational education and training

The 5th BIBB Congress will be accompanied by an exhibition at which educational product manufacturers will present their current products and the latest developments at the workplace and in teaching. The exhibition will be organized by the Didacta educational products association.
