The ELDOC continuing training database from BIBB - tested and found to be good
The ELDOC e-learning continuing training database ELDOC (www.eldoc.info), operated by the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB), has been tested by the German consumer association "Stiftung Warentest" and categorised as good (receiving a score of 2 on a scale of 1 to 6). This places ELDOC in the top third of the test results. BIBB President Manfred Kremer stated: "This good and pleasing result will act as an incentive for us to expand the database for the users and to keep improving it on an ongoing basis." Stiftung Warentest tested the user-friendliness of a total of 25 continuing training databases in the period from July to November 2006, these comprising ten national, nine state, three regional and three specific topic databases (for further information on the detailed test re-sults, please visit www.weiterbildungstest.de).
ELDOC lends support to those planning their continuing training and interested in finding suitable e-learning or blending learning provision. Those searching the database, which cur-rently contains around 900 continuing training offers from 100 providers, receive a transpar-ent and comparable presentation of the relevant providers and the courses they offer.
The main focuses of the ELDOC database are the areas of computers/IT, economics and law, cross-curricular qualifications, languages, technology and the natural sciences. There are also useful links to other continuing training databases, checklists and general informa-tion on topics related to continuing training and e-learning.
Use of ELDOC is free of charge for those interested in continuing training and for providers. Providers of network-supported courses are permitted to enter their courses into the ELDOC database provided they comply with certain acceptance criteria.
