Win with continuing vocational education and training: Enter the contest for the 2008 Innovation in Continuing Education Prize today!

Fostering innovative ideas in the field of continuing vocational and in-house education and training, pointing the way for new developments and, in the process, helping shape the future are the aims of the 2008 Innovation in Continuing Education Prize ("WIP") which the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training ("BIBB") will award this year for the eighth time. BIBB is helping advance the future-oriented modernization of continuing vocational training in Germany through its WIP prize - a 'trademark' in the continuing training scene - and the innovations that this prize fosters. It is worth entering the competition:

BIBB will award up to five equal prizes with a prize money of € 2,500 each.

The deadline for submissions is 31 July 2007.

BIBB invites education service providers, organizations, institutions, facilities as well as companies from Germany and abroad that have developed innovative concepts for continuing vocational or in-house education and training to enter the contest for the 2008 WIP prize. Concepts must be aimed at teaching technical, personal, social/participative or methodological competence and, for example:

  • teaching new training profiles with new skills,
  • combining traditional skills in new ways,
  • expanding existing training profiles through the addition of new skills and qualifications,
  • offering new training profiles for specific target groups,
  • using new instruction and learning methods or ways of organizing learning,
  • implementing new concepts for training that takes place in the actual work process,
  • taking new approaches to developing individuals' skills and competences.

Concepts for pre-vocational training or vocational training for young people and concepts that are aimed exclusively at university graduates are not eligible for submission. The winners will be selected by an independent jury.

The award ceremony will be held at the Didacta Trade Fair for Education and Training in Stuttgart in February 2008. The Minister President of the state of Baden-Württemberg, Mr Günther H. Oettinger, will be the patron for the ceremony. The prize-winners and winning submissions will receive coverage through the press, trade journals and the Internet. The WIP competition is supported by the managerseminare trade journal and the Didacta Verband e.V. education industry association.

Information on the prize-winners and the award ceremony in 2007 is available at the BIBB homepage at www.bibb.de/wip
