BIBB Board recommends adoption of model examination regulations

At its last meeting, the Board of the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) unanimously passed a resolution recommending new model examination regulations for final and journeyman's examinations in recognised training occupations and for retraining examinations. Pursuant to §§ 47 and 62 of the Vocational Training Act (BBiG), chambers and other competent bodies enact appropriate examination regulations on a local basis. The new model examination regulations are intended as a guideline to ensure that there are no major discrepancies in these examination regulations and that different decisions are not taken in the light of the same facts and circumstances. Adoption is not mandatory.

The amendment to the BBiG in April 2005 necessitated an updating of the examination procedures as they had hitherto applied. The introduction of such elements as the "extended final examination", which has been stipulated as a new form of examination since the amendment to the BBiG, has rendered an adaptation of the procedural rules and regulations an urgent necessity.

The BIBB Board has the statutory duty to advise the Federal Government in all fundamental issues relating to vocational education and training. It has equal representation from the employers, employees, the federal states and the Federal Government.
