BIBB extends cooperation with Hungarian vocational education and training institute
The Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) - a centre of excel-lence for VET research and further development in Germany - is honing its international pro-file and expanding its European competences. On 25 April, BIBB extended the cooperation agreement which has been in place since 1993 with the National Institute of Vocational and Adult Education (NSZFI) in Budapest, adapting the contents of the agreement to reflect the change in general conditions and to meet the current challenges. The heads of the two institutes, Manfred Kremer (BIBB) and László Nagy (NSZFI), signed the new agreement dur-ing a meeting in Bonn.
Manfred Kremer, President of the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB): "In the light of the growing challenges brought by internationalisation and within the field of vocational education and training in particular, increasing significance is being accorded to the exchange of experiences within the EU. We are especially interested in those countries which have recently acceded to the EU. Recent years have seen great progress in the modernisation of the Hungarian system of vocational education and training. BIBB views this cooperation with our Hungarian partner of many years as a major opportu-nity to be able to undertake a joint effort to surmount the current tasks which face us."
László Nagy, Director of the National Institute of Vocational and Adult Education (NSZFI): "Extensive cooperation has been going on between BIBB and NSZFI over the course of many years in the fields of drawing up training regulations, training programmes and examination requirements, reactivating dual vocational education and training and the VET of disadvantaged young people. The fact that competitiveness in a free trade area de-pends on specialist knowledge means that the exchange of information and cooperation has become even more important after Hungary's EU accession. For this reason, and in order to strengthen the flexibility and effectiveness of vocational education and training in Hungary and the coordination between VET and trade and industry, we are seeking to extend our co-operation."
The main focuses of future cooperation are:
- VET examination content and methods,
- pre-vocational training for young people,
- flexible initial and continuing training concepts,
- investigations as to the requirements for skilled workers in trade and industry and on the destination of those completing vocational education and training.
An exchange of academic researchers in these fields is planned.
The Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training is a partner within a worldwide network and currently maintains 20 cooperation agreements with VET institutes both within and outside Europe.
