BIBB takes over the www.ausbildungplus.de online portal
The Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) has taken over the AusbildungPlus ("TrainingPlus") online portal and integrated it into its Web sites. AusbildungPlus was originally developed by the Cologne-based Institut der deutschen Wirtschaft (IW) business research institute. www.ausbildungplus.de offers a comprehensive overview of additional qualifications that can be earned in the vocational training system or through 'dual' university programmes that incorporate phases of vocational training. Individuals who earn additional qualifications acquire specialized expertise and special skills that go beyond regular training content. As a result, this type of qualification promotes greater intermeshment of initial and continuing vocational training. Dual university programmes foster permeability between vocational training and university education because they combine in-company vocational training with university studies. In light of new challenges - particularly the challenges involved in updating 'dual' vocational training (which combines part-time schooling with practical work experience) and making it more flexible - BIBB will continue to develop and refine the AusbildungPlus site on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research during the next four years.
AusbildungPlus documents additional qualifications and dual university programmes in a database that can be searched by content focus, occupational profile or region. Users receive concrete training offers with detailed information regarding training content, curricula and companies that offer the particular in-house training.
The database currently offers information on more than 2,000 additional qualifications, more than 600 dual university programmes and some 35,000 vocational training offerings that more than 100,000 trainees are using to earn supplementary qualification. AusbildungPlus is the second-largest vocational training database in Germany and is one-of-a-kind with its special range.
AusbildungPlus also offers extensive services for training providers, enterprises and young people. These include information on dual vocational training, everything you need to know about choosing an occupation, descriptions of all recognized occupations that require completion of formal vocational training, a strategy for choosing an occupation, tips for finding a training place, application tips for youths, links and a calendar of events.
