EU Workshop on vocational training personnel
Herold Gross
Instruction and training personnel in the vocational education and training field was the focus of a workshop which drew European vocational training experts to Bonn on 22-23 January 2009. Experts from Hungary, the Czech Republic, Austria, Lichtenstein, Luxembourg and Germany attended the workshop which was sponsored by the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) and conducted in cooperation with the Institute for Technology and Education of the University of Bremen on behalf of the European Commission. The workshop was the last in a series of six consultation seminars of groups of European countries which were held in Wales, Lithuania, Denmark, France, Greece and Germany. Using these workshops, the European Commission wants to contribute to the development of strategies to assist and support instruction and training personnel in the vocational education and training field.
The aim of these seminars was to bring together experts and practitioners in the vocational education and training field from different European countries to examine the approaches and activities pursued at EU level to date (such as findings from current studies on the situation of vocational training personnel in Europe), their relevance to day-to-day vocational education and training practice, and their validity for follow-up activities within the European context and to collect further information and suggestions from a national and regional point of view which are relevant to this target group.
