New look for the AusbildungPlus portal
More informative, more user-friendly, more straightforward and accessible for persons with disabilities: One of the most frequently-visited portals in the vocational education and training field has been revamped. At the heart of AusbildungPlus (www.ausbildungplus.de) are vocational training programmes which offer additional qualifications, and 'dual' courses of study (which combine university studies with vocational training). Users of the AusbildungPlus (TrainingPlus) database can search more than 41,000 training programmes through which some 130,000 trainees or students can earn qualification. The database presently contains more than 2,300 different models for additional qualifications and more than 700 dual courses of study. Interest in these types of options is strong: More than 90,000 users visit the AusbildungPlus portal every month - and their numbers are growing. The Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) operates and continually refines the AusbildungPlus portal on behalf of and with financial assistance from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
BIBB assists three target groups through AusbildungPlus:
- For motivated, high-achieving trainees and potential students, AusbildungPlus facilitates the search for innovative and attractive vocational training options. Thus AusbildungPlus provides a service and creates transparency in this area of the vocational education and training field.
- Enterprises can have their vocational training offerings added to the AusbildungPlus database free of charge. The AusbildungPlus portal additionally encourages collaborative activities between enterprises and education and training providers.
- The research community, political sector and teaching field receive information about important developments and trends in vocational training and university studies. Scientific analyses of the database contents uncover potential for new approaches to vocational training and make a contribution toward increasing permeability in the education system.
The relaunched website has been optimised in the areas usability, design, content and technology.
- A straightforward navigation system makes it possible to find information of relevance to vocational education and training quickly and easily.
- Easy-to-use search functions for finding vocational training programmes for additional qualifications and dual courses of study and a clear presentation of the search results facilitate systematic and speedy searches.
- Modern software for Internet forums fosters communication between users.
- Functions that permit users to adjust display colour, layout and font size ensure that people with physical impairments can also access the new AusbildungPlus website without difficulty.
