BIBB at WorldDidac Asia in Bangkok
Joint workshop with DIDACTA and OVEC
BIBB conducted a workshop on the subject of "How can the German VET industry support the reform process in Thailand" together with the Office of Vocational Education Commission (OVEC) at the Ministry of Education of Thailand and Germany's DIDACTA association at this year's WorldDidac Asia which was held in Bangkok from 28-30 October 2009. More than 200 individuals - mostly directors of technical vocational schools and industry representatives - attended the workshop in Bangkok.
Manfred Kremer, president of the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training, gave an introduction to the topic and provided a survey of the collaborative activities that BIBB and OVEC have conducted to date. Professor Dr Fthenakis, president of the DIDACTA association, then explained the array of advisory services and products that the German education sector and BIBB offer at international level. In closing, Dr Choomnom, former Deputy Secretary-General of OVEC, outlined the reform process being implemented in the vocational education and training field in Thailand and the current challenges arising from this process.
The lectures were followed by a lively panel discussion and plenary discussion. These discussions focused particularly on actively involving trade and industry in the planning, implementation and evaluation of initial and continuing vocational training in Germany and Thailand.
