Full steam ahead for "foraus.de": relaunch of the BIBB Internet forum for trainers working in vocational education and training
The Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) Internet portal www.foraus.de (a German acronym based on the title "Forum für Ausbilder/-innen" or "Forum for Trainers") has more than 10,000 members, making it the largest trainer community in Germany. The (entirely German language) site has undergone a complete revision and now offers trainers a wide range of new opportunities for debate, research and the exchange of views. This innovative provision, which is available free of charge, includes moderated online seminars in a "virtual classroom", direct access to continuing training databases, an electronic newsletter to which members can subscribe, new main topics of focus, comprehensive services and the new theme forum "QualifizierungDigital" (or "Training Digital", www.qualifizierungdigital.de).
www.foraus.de now features a fresh and clearer look to harmonise with the wider family of in excess of 30 BIBB Internet portals offering initial and continuing vocational education and training provision. The forum has been in existence for 10 years and has recorded constantly increasing member and access numbers during this period. It is mainly aimed at full-time and part-time VET stakeholders working in company training, inter-company training and extra-company training.
Foraus.de stands for
- Learning - provision of online learning modules
- Informing - dissemination of current information relating to vocational education and training and activities in training
- Communicating - exchanging views with VET experts
The forum's homepage offers users direct access to continuing training databases and new information services. Learning modules can be transferred to a new and user-friendly format known as "flipbooks" which can then be browsed through on screen like a magazine. Further assistance is provided in the form of current links and references to documents, legal texts, sources, funding programmes and publications which are of relevance to training. The "AF Shop" offers a facility for the ordering of publications on training support.
