'Dual' courses of study at universities of applied sciences following the changeover to bachelor's degrees

An overview

Franziska Kupfer, Kerstin Mucke

'Dual' courses of study have become an important part of the German education system. Their special feature: They incorporate a greater degree of practical work experience into the respective programme and thus offer a transition from vocational education to university studies.
This updated publication provides an overview of dual courses of study at universities of applied sciences in the Federal Republic of Germany. The programmes offered are broken down into four categories, based on the type, extent and degree of integrated work experience they involve: dual courses of study that integrate vocational training into university studies, dual courses of study that integrate practical work experience into university studies, dual courses of study that are integrated into full-time employment and dual courses of study that are conducted in tandem with employment.
