International collaboration in the vocational education and training field
Julia Schmidt
During the didacta 2010 education trade fair in Cologne, BIBB conducted several informational events revolving around issues in the area of international vocational education and training (VET) collaboration. Speakers included Ms Julia Schmidt from the Advisory Services and International Cooperation section at BIBB. She presented the new BIBB VET system-based consultation concept and illustrated it with two examples (Egypt and Vietnam).
BIBB offers advisory services for the modernisation of vocational training systems in selected regions around the world. As a rule, the aim of these services is to gear VET more strongly to actual demand on the labour market and in the respective country's enterprises and, as a result, make vocational education and training more employment-relevant.
These services focus on a number of areas which include the legal framework for vocational education and training, appropriate financing models, and occupational, training and examination standards.
