Data - Facts - Analyses: BIBB releases its 2010 Data Report on the development of vocational education and training
How have supply and demand in the training place market developed in recent years? What is to be expected in 2010? Which factors play a decisive role in whether youths land a training place or not? Answers to these and many other questions regarding vocational education and training (VET) can be found in the latest Data Report from the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB). This standard work supplements the "Report on Vocational Education and Training for the Year 2010" which is issued by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and was approved by the Federal Cabinet today. The BIBB Data Report offers extensive information and analyses regarding the development of VET in Germany.
The focus of this year's Data Report is on transitions at the "second threshold", in other words, the transition from vocational training to employment. Current BIBB analyses show that the level of the individual's school-leaving qualification and the choice of training sector are particularly important factors in whether the individual makes a smooth transition to fully-fledged employment (please see BIBB Press Release No. 16/2010 from 22 April 2010).
This year's section on initial and continuing vocational training revolves around key indicators and developments over time. Compared to last year's Data Report, the analyses of continuing vocational training were particularly expanded in this year's report. A new feature in this year's report is the comprehensive overview of federal and state programmes and activities to promote vocational training. The indicator-based report was also expanded in the area of international indicators and benchmarks. A new glossary rounds out this year's Data Report.
The Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training has issued the Data Report since 2009. It is an indicator-based data report that supplements the German government's "Report on Vocational Education and Training" which has a policy focus. With some 450 pages and more than 250 diagrams and tables, the 2010 Data Report presents current data and information on developments in the vocational education and training sector in Germany.
A preliminary version of the 2010 Data Report can be downloaded in PDF format free of charge at www.bibb.de/datenreport where you will also find a link to the German government's "Report on Vocational Education and Training for the Year 2010".
