Launch of the "My Training Plus" competition. BIBB seeks personal progress reports from trainees and students
Did you obtain an additional qualification during a course of vocational education and training which you are currently undertaking or which you have just finished? Maybe you learned a language, spent some time abroad or acquired special professional knowledge which extends beyond your actual training plan. Or perhaps you are completing vocational training and a course of higher education study at the same time or have recently come to the end of such a dual course of study. Then this is exactly the right competition for you. The Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) in Bonn would like to hear about what you have done in order to show other young people what opportunities are available and to bring your experiences alive. Your reports may be submitted online, and there are attractive cash prizes to be won. The deadline for submissions is 15 August 2010. For all further information on the competition and for terms and conditions of entry, please visit www.myausbildungplus.de.
Your competition entry might deal with such issues as the following.
- What kind of additional qualification did you obtain and what have been the benefits?
- How do you manage to find enough time for both your training and your higher education course of study? What for you are the advantages of this close interlinking of theory and practice?
- What motivated you to take up a dual course of study and how and where did you obtain your place?
In organising a competition of this nature, BIBB is making a targeted attempt to obtain reports from young people which contain authentic descriptions of their training and higher education study experiences. The best reports will be published on the BIBB portal www.ausbildungplus.de. This will provide other young people with a chance to gain first hand insights and impressions from their peers.
Attractive cash prizes are on offer for the three best entries (1st Prize: €500, 2nd Prize: €300, 3rd Prize: €100). Winners will be decided by an independent specialist jury. The prize giving ceremony will take place on 14 September 2010 at the "Vocatium Rhein-Sieg", the specialist training and higher education study fair held in Bonn. This fair is taking place under the patronage of BIBB President Manfred Kremer, who will also present the prizes.
"Training Plus" is a Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training project funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The centrepiece of the project is a comprehensive database which contains information on an extensive range of training and higher education study provision. The database currently contains more than 2,300 training opportunities including additional qualification and more than 800 dual courses of study. It is available free of charge to young people and enables them to conduct a targeted search for appropriate provision. Providers such as companies, vocational schools, Universities of Applied Sciences and other institutes of higher education are also able to publish details of their training and higher education study provision in the database without incurring a charge.
