Knowledge Management - Developments, Prospects, Practical Applications
Conference to be held by the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training on 23 November 2010
Increasing internationalisation, knowledge-intensive products and services, and the growing need to prepare and edit ever-greater amounts of information quickly and correctly in ever-shorter periods of time are just a few of the current trends which pose new challenges for today's information and knowledge society. One approach to mastering these challenges is knowledge management which ensures the efficient and systematic use of the resource 'knowledge'.
The conference will focus on current trends and issues in the field of knowledge management. Discussion will revolve around issues involving internal knowledge engineering and knowledge transfer in organisations and enterprises and around questions of how the availability, processing and usability of knowledge can be improved in external communication activities. This spectrum covers not only the knowledge management instruments which support work and communication processes but also new approaches to collaboration, networking and information processing. These will be discussed with the help of practical examples. The outlooks for approaches currently used in the knowledge management field and future trends will be pointed out.
The following focal topics will be examined in two parallel workshops:
Workshop I
"Think it - share it": Tools for the exchange of knowledge
Workshop II
Well-connected: Knowledge management in external communication
The conference is aimed at decision-makers, qualified employees, managers and disseminators for knowledge management in trade, industry, the public sector, research community and the political sector who want to implement individual elements of knowledge management in their organisations, companies or government bodies and wish to compare notes on their experience with knowledge management.
The conference will be held from 9:30 am until 5:00 pm on 23 November 2010 at the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) in Bonn. The registration fee is €60 and includes refreshments during the breaks and lunch.
