Occupations and qualifications in the future
BIBB-IAB model-based calculations on occupational field and qualification trends up to 2025
Qualifications and occupational requirements are changing for the labour market of the future. Based on projections of supply and demand in the German workforce broken down by qualifications and major occupational fields, the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) and the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) are carrying out model-based calculations of future trends based on qualifications and occupations.
In collaboration with the Institute of Economic Structures Research (GWS) and the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology (FIT), this book presents the underlying data, the preliminary methodological work, the structures and assumptions of the three projection models, and the model-based calculations used to produce a balance sheet of supply and demand up to 2025, taking account of occupational flexibility. The purpose of this is to bring to light possible shortages and action areas in the labour market of the future.
In their "Qualification and Occupational Field Projections", BIBB and IAB extend add a quantitative dimension to their qualification development and occupational research, bringing greater transparency to the evolving trends in qualifications and occupations.
