Examinations and Certificates in Vocational Education and Training
Specifications- Instruments - Research Needs
Examinations in vocational education and training determine access to the employment system and to higher-level educational pathways. Examination certificates should give reliable information on the holders' vocational knowledge and competencies; they should follow standards and establish the comparability of training achievements.
Examinations in vocational educational training are highly significant to the individual success of trainees, to the transparency and regulation of the vocational training system, and ultimately to its institutional order. In spite of this, hitherto they have been neglected as a topic of vocational education and training research.
The contributions in this volume outline the academic state of the art. They describe established and innovative examination methods, give insights into examination practice, and describe specifications for the design of competence-oriented examination and evaluation procedures.
