Migration as an opportunity
A contribution from vocational research
As the key social challenge of the 21st century, migration raises urgent questions which demand concrete answers. How can people from migrant backgrounds become better qualified? How can their involvement in vocational education and subsequent skilled employment be improved? And how can the vocational education sector in an immigration society like Germany give concrete answers to these questions? The present volume, "Migration as an opportunity. A contribution from vocational research", highlights academic findings and examples of good practice on access to initial vocational education and training for young people, including the organisational implications, and on continuing vocational education and training for adults, including ways of making intercultural competencies visible. The volume also offers a critical reflection on the relationship between immigration, the immigration society and education, and sets out research desiderata from the perspectives of research into migration and vocational education.
