German-Chinese cooperation agreement signed

Germany and China have been practising cooperation in the vocational education and training field for 30 years now. A seal was recently placed on these collaborative activities with the signing of a cooperation agreement in Peking on 12 May. BIBB is the body that is responsible for this collaboration on the German side. Its partner in China is the Central Institute of Vocational and Technical Education (CIVTE), a government research and development institute which is under the direct supervision of China's Ministry of Education. The CIVTE's duties include research, advisory services, communication and other services. As part of its international activities, the CIVTE has cooperation agreements with numerous countries including Australia, the USA and South Korea (with KRIVET). In addition to the internationalization of vocational education and training, both partners are particularly inter-ested in quality assurance. BIBB and the CIVTE plan to conduct a two-day expert workshop in the Chinese capital in October 2011.
Topics will include:
- Presentations of the quality assurance systems used in Germany, Europe and China,
- The exchange of information regarding quality assurance for vocational training personnel and collaboration between schools and enterprises,
- The establishment of a common understanding of quality and quality assurance,
- The development of a questionnaire to be used as a quality assurance tool in China.
