BIBB Bibliography on "German as a Foreign Language"
All-important in the world of work: good German language skills
Good German language skills are an indispensable prerequisite for successful integration, not least in the world of work and careers, where they greatly facilitate access to the labour market. But which are the up-to-date teaching and learning resources that discuss the world of work and give learners particular practice in communicative situations for working life? To support German teachers working in this area and learners of German in Germany and abroad, the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) has published a new, user-oriented overview of work and career-related teaching and learning media for German as a foreign language. Numerous recent print publications and digital media were selected and annotated for the bibliography.
BIBB intends this publication as a practical guide which provides helpful pointers for teachers and learners whilst also contributing to market transparency. Especially in the hands of the relevant practitioners, i.e. language teachers and trainers, this bibliography serves as a systematic information source on the diversity of materials available. BIBB's volume presents an extensive overview of printed textbooks and teaching resources as well as digital teaching and learning media on work-related German-language teaching. A variety of indexes by criteria such as linguistic competence level or industry sector make it possible to find the "right" resource for any given purpose. The bibliography is complemented with short articles by leading German institutions about the work they do in Germany and abroad to teach and promote the German language.
