BIBB at the 2012 "didacta" education fair in Hanover
The "didacta" is the largest educational fair in Europe, and the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) will once again be maintaining a presence at this year's event in Hanover from 14 to 18 February in order to offer current information, presentations and discussions on issues relating to initial and continuing vocational education and training. One of the highlights of the activities which BIBB will undertake will be the awarding of the "Prize for Innovation in Continuing Education and Training" (WIP) on 14 February. BIBB will be using this year's WIP to recognise three projects which use innovative and forward-looking concepts to address the competition theme of "Company-based continuing training for older employees". The WIP prize-giving ceremony is taking place under the patronage of the Prime Minister of Lower Saxony, David McAllister (begins at 3:00 pm, Hall 15, Stand D 30).
The BIBB exhibition stand in Hanover (Hall 15, Stand E 30) will provide visitors to the fair with information on such topics as:
- the ongoing national and international research and development work the Institute is pursuing;
- the broad spectrum of BIBB materials on initial and continuing vocational education and training;
- the services provided by the Vocational Training Literature Database (www.ldbb.de);
- the Good Practice Centre (GPC) at BIBB offering a wide range of information on support for young people making the transition from school to the world of work (www.good-practice.bibb.de);
- "Training Plus" - the BIBB portal for young people on the topics of "Additional VET qualifications" and "Dual courses of study" (www.ausbildungplus.de).
BIBB will once again also be organising the "Training/Skills" Forum to run in parallel to the above (Hall 15, Stand D 30). This will feature a daily programme of lectures and presentations in which experts will focus on recent developments and the latest research results in initial and continuing vocational training. The main thematic issues addressed will be supplemented by podium discussions involving representatives from the fields of policymaking, trade and industry and academic research.
- Tuesday 14 February
The main focus of the podium discussion on the "Challenges for vocational education and training in the year 2020" will be the question of which adjustments need to be made today to enable us to continue to have a modern and effective training system in place in future. - Wednesday 15 February
The issue to be debated at the fair today will be which innovative concepts, formats and media can be used to continue to develop quality in initial and continuing VET. Presentations will include the new "online report book" developed by the Technical University of Dresden. - Thursday 16 February
Several presentations and the podium discussion itself will be devoted to the theme of "How can companies react to demographic change and secure their future skilled worker requirements?" A "career entry support worker" will provide a clear and highly practical explanation of how young people can be assisted in making the transition from school to vocational education and training. - Friday 17 February
The motto today will be the "fascination of training". Various presentations and the podium discussion will provide current information on occupations within innovative areas, such as renewable energies or the motor vehicles sector, as well as on attractive training provision offering additional qualifications. - Saturday 18 February
the final day of the fair invites you to embark upon an entertaining tour of physics, chemistry and biology in accordance with the motto of "hands-on science and technology". Join us for the exciting and interesting television experiment show "Kopfball auf Tour" presented by the TV station WDR.
