The research project "Recruitment at the medium qualifications level - case studies from Germany, England and Switzerland", which has been conducted in the three countries concerned by BIBB acting in conjunction with the University of Zurich, has arrived at the conclusion that vocational education and training is accorded a high degree of importance and a good level of labour market relevance in Germany and Switzerland. From the point of view of the major companies operating in the technology, banking, IT and chemical sectors, there is no competitive situation between Bachelor qualifications and VET. Career pathways are fundamentally different in this regard.
The aim of the project was to identify findings regarding the labour market relevance of vocational and higher education qualifications. The companies surveyed particularly valued so-called double qualifications which contain both vocational training and academic elements.
