Following a trip to Germany in the spring of 2011 by the former Jordanian Minister of Higher Education Professor Wajih Owais, staff from BIBB and iMOVE paid a reciprocal visit to Amman on 15 and 16 January 2012 in order to obtain an impression of the current situation of vocational education and training in the country and identify possible approaches to specific cooperation. The Jordanian Government displayed considerable interest in development cooperation projects in the field of VET.
The change of government in Jordan in October 2011 also brought about a change in leadership at the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), which is responsible for the organisation and regulation of vocational education and training. The new Minister, Professor Rowaida Al Maaitah, received the BIBB staff together with the General Secretary in charge of VET. A concluding meeting held at the Ministry and chaired by the General Secretary in the presence of a number of University Chancellors provided an opportunity to present the support and intermediary services BIBB and iMOVE are able to offer and to discuss further cooperation opportunities.
