Report on Vocational Education and Training 2012 - BIBB Board issues official statement on Federal Government draft
At its meeting of 15 March 2012 in Bonn, the Board of the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) consulted on the draft of the Report on Vocational Education and Training 2012 submitted by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). By dint of its status as the supreme governing body of the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training, the Board is often referred to as the "Parliament of Vocational Education and Training". In this capacity, it used its joint Official Statement to emphasise:
"The Board of the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) welcomes the preparation of the draft of the Report on Vocational Education and Training and thanks the Ministry of Education and Research and BIBB for the comprehensive and detailed information provided.
Background
The Report on Vocational Education and Training 2012 will be published by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research in April following adoption by the Federal Cabinet. The policy section of the Report on Vocational Education and Training produced by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research formed the object of consultation and was the subject of the Official Statements issued by the BIBB Board. The policy section is supplemented by a "Data Report to accompany the 2012 Report on Vocational Education and Training. Information and analyses on the development of vocational education and training." This is produced by BIBB and will be published together with the Report on Vocational Education and Training. The Report on Vocational Education and Training was first divided into a policy section and a further independent indicators-based data section in 2009. It is the view of all those involved that this separation has "proved to be very successful".
The BIBB Board has the statutory duty to advise the Federal Government in all fundamental issues relating to vocational education and training. Pursuant to the Vocational Training Act (BBiG), this also includes issuing an Official Statement on the draft of the annual Report on Vocational Education and Training.
