Safety device of the vocational future by research and development

Results of an Delphi inquiry

Safeguarding viable qualifications by means of initial and continuing vocational education and training is a central task of vocational education and training research. In a Germany-wide Delphi study on "Identification of research and development tasks in initial and continuing vocational education and training" the Federal Institute for Vocational Training (BIBB), with financial support from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) asked experts for their assessment of the most important research and development tasks. The purpose of the Delphi survey was to identify gaps in vocational education and training research and place research planning generally on a broad foundation. On the one hand the present publication introduces the research concept. On the other hand, it presents and analyses the 246 research and development proposals covering four subject areas (participation in vocational education and training, ensuring viability and quality in vocational education and training, order and development of vocational education and training, teaching and learning in vocational education and training). All the findings as well as the survey instruments are printed in the appendix.
