BIBB Board adopts rehabilitation pedagogy framework curriculum
At its meeting held in Bonn on 21 June 2012, the Board of the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) unanimously adopted a framework curriculum to offer trainers an additional qualification in rehabilitation pedagogy. In its Recommendation, the Board took the view that such continuing training would serve the professionalisation of trainers, would secure the quality of training for people with disabilities and would accord due consideration to the concept of inclusion. The new qualification addresses the Board's own stipulations regarding the framework provision to be included in training regulations for the disabled. These stipulations stress the fundamental necessity of an additional qualification in rehabilitation pedagogy for trainers.
The framework curriculum has been drawn up by a project group from the Federal Association of Vocational Training Centres acting on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and working in conjunction with an advisory committee on the basis of the eight competence fields stated in BIBB's general regulations. There is a particular focus on the topics of learning disabilities, learning difficulties, behavioural problems, psychological disabilities, individual support planning, qualified cooperation with vocational schools and transitions to full training.
By dint of its status as the supreme governing body of the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training, the Board is often referred to as the "Parliament of Vocational Education and Training". In this capacity, it has the statutory duty to advise the Federal Government in all fundamental issues relating to vocational education and training. The Board has equal representation from employer and employee associations, the federal states and the Federal Government.
