Online seminar for trainers - BIBB-Forum foraus.de helps companies as they move into the new training year

"A trial period (when well planned) helps assure that a training programme will be successful!" This is the topic of the first online seminar in the "virtual classroom" with foraus.de, an Internet forum for trainers 1 established by the Federal Institute for Vocational Training (BIBB), which is being launched on September 16, 2003. Especially during the initial part of training, it is important to integrate young people in a company and the com-pany environment quickly and successfully. Particularly companies which can be persuaded to take part in the training initiative of the Federal government, but which have thus far had little experience with training, can obtain qualified support in starting up their training pro-grammes in this online seminar.

Trainers and skilled workers acting as trainers can find out in the online seminar

  • how to structure a trial employment period, inform trainees in detail about the company and motivate people to undergo training
  • what possibilities there are to obtain a comprehensive impression of trainees even dur-ing their trial employment period,
  • what criteria are available to be able to carry out the most objective assessment of trainees possible at the end of the trial period.

The objective of the seminar is to help young people become involved in constructive discus-sions about problems early on in order to prevent trainees from dropping out of training programmes at the end of the trail period or later.

The virtual classroom in which the online seminar is taking place allows members of foraus.de - similar to classical non-virtual classroom instruction - to actively take part in in-struction. Equipped with computers, an ISDN line and headseat (with microphone), all the participants are in contact with the teacher as well as each other. Various material is presented on a virtual blackboard and made available for downloading. The participants are able to discuss special topical issues with each other for a period of several days following the seminar as well.

Just like everything else on offer at foraus.de - continuing training programmes, continuously updated information, discussion forums and tips on initial and continuing vocational training - the online seminar is free of charge to the members.

foraus.de is planning in the future to increasingly address companies which have not engaged in training thus far. Companies that want to offer training programmes can obtain information in a special forum which addresses questions about how to establish new training positions.

If you are interested, you can register for the online seminar at the Internet address www.foraus.de or h.kleiss@thinkhouse.de. Here you will find more details on the actual content of the seminar, the methods used and the technical requirements to take part in it.
