In holding the Specialist Conference "Future of Vocational Training in Germany - Empirical studies and conclusions" on 4/5 November 2003 in Bonn the Federal Institute for Vocational Training (BIBB) wishes to start a more profound discussion on the further development of vocational education and training against the background of the current problematic situation on the apprenticeship market.
Proceeding from the situation of vocational education and training in Germany and the European demands made on national vocational education, vocational education and training is analysed and discussed in the individual contributions from the perspective of the providers and of the applicants and conclusion are drawn from the perspective of vocational education policy.
