Online communities - opportunities of informal learning at work

The authors of this publication start from the assumption that occupation-related online communities[1] contribute to the qualification of employees in companies and can support knowledge management both within and across companies.

The individual articles give an introduction to the subject matter, make reference to questions and problems arising in vocational education and document first experience gathered in practical work. For example, the authors try to find out how online communities can organisationally and conceptionally be integrated into the educational work within companies. Practical experience is contributed by experts who manage online communities for different target groups and against the background of different organisational and financial concepts or by experts who are involved in the management of such communities.

This publication is thus addressed to training staff in companies and educational establishments, to training experts and last but not least to all those who intend to set up or manage an online community themselves.
