BIBB "in person" - At the didacta Trade Fair for Education and Training in Cologne, February 9 - 13, 2004
Information on vocational training straight from the experts. Germany's Federal Institute for Vocational Training ("BIBB") will once again be on hand "in person" at this year's didacta Trade Fair for Education and Training in Cologne (Hall 12.1, stand A 49) from February 9 - 13 to inform visitors about current developments and oppor-tunities in the field of initial and continuing vocational education and training through lectures, presentations and personal conversations.
As part of the Training and Qualification FORUM (Hall 12.1, stand A 51), BIBB ex-perts will be providing information on
- Modern occupations such as
-
- The new occupations planned in the industrial metal-working and metal-processing field
- The new occupations in the electrical sector that went into effect in 2003
- The occupations professional caterer and investment fund clerk
- Vocational training in the geriatric nursing care field
- Questions on all aspects of vocational training such as
-
- Reasons why trainees prematurely terminate their training agreements
- Advantages and disadvantages of two-year vocational training programmes
- Vocational training and qualification networks for immigrants
- The virtual foraus.de training network for instructors
- How occupational designations influence an apprentice's or trainee's choice of occupation
- The training place situation in Germany and the German government's 2003/2004 training campaign including
-
- The STARegio assistance programme to improve the range and number of training places on offer in individual parts of the country

Visitors to the BIBB stand (Hall 12.1, stand A 49 - right next to the FORUM) will also have the opportunity to obtain a comprehensive overview of all BIBB activities and the results of BIBB's work. The BIBB stand will be providing information on, for ex-ample,
· BIBB's vocational training literature databank
· The broad range of subjects covered by BIBB training materials (publications, videos, CD-ROMs, online and offline products)
· BIBB's ELDOC (e-learning documentation) databank with offerings from the initial and continuing vocational education and training field
· Various e-learning programmes
· Findings from research BIBB has conducted and which it has made available to the public through its publications
· Ongoing BIBB research in the area of national and international vocational educa-tion and training.
The Innovation in Continuing Education Prize ("WIP") which BIBB awards each year to publicize and disseminate innovation in the field of continuing education is also on BIBB's programme of public presentations. The 2004 WIP prize will be awarded to five projects at 3 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 2004 as part of the ac-tivities featured at the Training and Qualification FORUM. The awards will be pre-sented under the auspices of the minister-president of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Mr. Peer Steinbrück.
