The venues for training delivery are the training company and the vocational school.

Field of activity

Opticians work in consultation rooms and optician's workshops.

Occupational skills

  • Opticians correct defective vision using vision aids;
  • advise customers in the selection of spectacles,
  • contact lenses and magnifying vision aids;
  • provide appropriate lenses for the intended use on prescription;
  • instruct customers on the effects of vision aids on the seeing process;
  • process materials manually and by machine, particularly glass, plastic and metal; prepare and insert lenses;
  • fit spectacles anatomically and optically; modify and repair spectacles;
  • give instruction on the use of vision aids; carry out administrative work;
  • assist in company accounting.
