Architectural draughtspersons carry out drawing, mathematical and organisational activities independently and in cooperation with others in a customer-oriented manner. In doing this, they work predominantly with computer-aided information and communications systems.

- interpret design sketches and make construction and working drawings
- draw floor plans, sections, views and details
- make plans and drawings and carry out technical calculations in accordance with recognised technical rules
- create documentation and make drawings for presentations
- measure up and draw preliminary site plans
- administer, edit and plot drawings and documents
and include technical requirements in construction documents
- classify building materials, structural elements and construction methods according to their properties and include the results in building documents
- take part in tender, award and accounting procedures
- take part in building processes
- plan and coordinate work processes
- apply quality assurance measures
- comply with the principles of environmental protection, safety and health protection at work
