Field of activity

Flexographers work in craft or industrial businesses. Trained to work independently, they are qualified to prepare manuscripts, work up and design analog and digital setting copy, and make stamps and flexographic printing plates. In performing their work they are required to take account of customers' wishes and to consider the intended purpose of the finished product and the technical conditions of the production process.

Occupational skills

  • Flexographers advise customers on the design and production of stamps and flexographic plates, taking into account technical and commercial aspects;
  • select the appropriate procedure and plan the necessary in-plant operations;
  • prepare copy and make necessary corrections;
  • use computer-aided design to prepare text, pictures and graphics for the production of stamps and flexographic printing plates according to typographic principles;
  • make stamps and flexographic printing plates for use in different areas;
  • fabricate, repair and adjust stamps.
