Duration of traineeship

3 years
The venues for training are company and vocational school (Berufschule)

Field of activity

The work of forest managers covers the conservation, management and protection of forests and their sustainable and managed exploitation.

Occupational skills

As a result of their vocational training, forest managers are qualified to carry out the activities listed below in a self-reliant manner and in compliance with the principles of nature and environmental conservation, health and safety and workplace ergonomics:

  • establish, protect and manage forest stands;
  • conserve, protect and develop particular habitats;
  • lay out and manage sanctuary facilities;
  • harvest, measure and grade timber;
  • transport and store timber;
  • use, maintain and service machinery and equipment;
  • plan, prepare and monitor work carried out.
