Field of activity

Photographic media laboratory technicians work in craft and industrial businesses and in research establishments. The scope of their duties involves designing and working up information in image and text form and producing images and reproductions using analog and digital technology.

Occupational skills

Photographic media laboratory technicians

  • advise customers on possibilities in relation to a particular order;
  • produce analog and digital images and reproductions;
  • develop and design image conceptions;
  • produce data for use in different media and output these data on output devices;
  • laminate, frame and improve pictures;
  • check and document finished products to ensure adherence to specifications and quality standards;
  • prepare chemical baths, regenerate and rejuvenate pictures;
  • prepare and evaluate test specimens;
  • monitor, control, correct and document laboratory processes;
  • develop light-sensitive materials;
  • work to customer specifications, observing the design requirements and conditions of different media.
