Duration of traineeship

2 years
The venues for training are company and part-time vocational school (Berufsschule).

Field of activity

Machine and plant operators work in different areas of commercial production, particularly in the metal, plastics, foodstuffs, textile, printing and paper processing industries.

Occupational skills

Machine and plant operators
- set up and operate machines and plants for production, and control and monitor the material flow
- prepare operating sequences
- select testing procedures and devices and apply them
- select materials and process them in accordance with technical documentation
- select manual and machine processing technologies and apply them
- use control and regulation systems
- maintain and inspect machines and plants, and rectify faults
- carry out quality assurance measures
- observe the regulations regarding environmental protection, work safety and efficiency
- document production data
- coordinate their work with the sectors before and after them in the process chain.
