The venues for training are company and part-time vocational school (Berufsschule).

Field of activity

Industrial ceramists specialising in decorative engineering work to refine porcelain, commodity and decorative ceramics in workshops and production plants in the ceramics and porcelain industry.

Occupational skills

Industrial ceramists specialising in decorative engineering

  • plan and organise their work independently and as part of a team, using information and communication technologies
  • work in a customer-oriented and cost-efficient manner
  • process, treat and check ceramic materials using technical documentation and production specifications
  • observe the regulations regarding environmental protection, health and safety at work, and quality assurance
  • design decorations and lettering
  • process colours and precious metal preparations for different refinement techniques
  • paint lettering using colours and precious metal preparations
  • paint ceramic products, particularly by adding borders, lines and bands, and trimming
  • produce overglaze, inglaze and underglaze decorations 
  • refine ceramic products by combining different decorative techniques
  • spray colour layers of different thickness
  • apply colour print decorations
  • observe the correct firing conditions for decoration firing
  • carry out quality improvement and quality assurance measures within their field of work
  • evaluate and document their work results and detect production errors
  • maintain operating resources.
