Duration of traineeship

3 years
The venues for training are company and part-time vocational school (Berufsschule).

Field of activity

Industrial ceramists specialising in model engineering work in the production of porcelain, commodity and decorative ceramics, construction ceramics, fireproof ceramics, sanitary ceramics and technical ceramics in workshops and production plants in the ceramics and porcelain industry.

Occupational skills

Industrial ceramists specialising in model engineering

  • plan and organise their work independently and as part of a team, using information and communication technologies
  • work in a customer-oriented and cost-efficient manner
  • process, treat and check ceramic materials, plaster and synthetic materials, using technical documentation and production specifications
  • maintain operating resources as well as measuring and test equipment
  • observe the regulations regarding environmental protection, health and safety at work, and quality assurance
  • produce designs and drawings, observing basic design principles for the manufacture of ceramic products
  • produce models and facilities for mould production
  • support the development of products throughout the entire production process
  • conduct quality improvement and quality assurance measures for the products they have developed throughout the entire production process through to the ready-for-sale stage.
