The venues for training are company and part-time vocational school (Berufsschule).

Field of activity

Textile production mechanics work predominantly in the classic textile production areas, such as weaving mills, spinning mills, embroiders and braiders, in the stitched goods industry and in the tufting and fleece industry, as well as in the car industry, in the environmental protection technology sector, the aerospace technology sector and the medical and geotechnology sectors, for example.

Occupational skills

Textile production mechanics 

• select working, operating and auxiliary materials according to their properties, their intended use and the requirements of customers
• produce and use technical documentation
• plan and document working steps and working procedures relating to the manufacture of textile products
• conduct quality control checks and evaluate the results
• analyse sample patterns, specify construction techniques and product features, and make data carriers
• use sector-specific production techniques and analyse processes
• change product characteristics by modifying the process parameters
• make use of control and regulation techniques
• fit production machines and plants, set process parameters, check process sequences and initiate corrective measures
• service machines and plants, and rectify machine faults
• carry out quality assurance measures
• observe basic safety, health protection and environmental protection principles.
