Duration of traineeship

3 years
The venues for training are company and part-time vocational school (Berufsschule).

Field of activity

Textile product finishers work predominantly in industrial textile finishing companies, mainly in the fields of proofing, coating, printing and dyeing.

Occupational skills

Textile product finishers 

  • use textile finishing processes and consider the physical and chemical influences
  • select testing procedures and devices and conduct quality tests
  • specify physical values, conduct optical measurements and determine parameters
  • calculate formulae and recipes, and test and improve recipes
  • modify product properties by controlling and regulating the machines and systems
  • select working, operating and auxiliary materials according to their properties, their intended use and the requirements of customers
  • produce sketches and drawings and use technical documentation
  • plan and document working steps and working procedures relating to the finishing of textile products
  • fit production machines and systems, set process parameters, check finishing processes and initiate corrective measures
  • service machines and systems
  • carry out quality assurance measures
  • take ecological and environmental requirements into account
  • observe basic safety and health protection principles at work.
